The AS-SC Book Club will be reading "Same Kind of Different As Me ; A Modern Day Slave, An International Art Dealer and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together" by Ron Hall, Denver Moore and Lynn Vincent. The club will meet at the home of a parishoner on Sunday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m. (Contact the church office for details.)

As has become our tradition, we will join with St. Mark's Episcopal Church on four successive Wednesday evenings in Lent for soup supper, program and worship. The theme of this year's program is "The Work of the Church in Mission."

The schedule for each of these evenings is

6:30 Soup supper
7:15 Program
8:00 Compline

Program

February 29 Theology of Mission: The Rev. Dr. Roger Ferlo, Professor of Religion and Culture, Virginia Theological Seminary (at St. Mark's).

On the first and third weeks (February 29 and March 14) we will meet at St. Mark's. On the second and fourth weeks (March 7 and 21) we will meet at All Saints-Sharon Chapel. The host parish will be responsible for providing supper.

Family Fiesta Worship Service - Sunday, March 04, 2012

There will be only one worship service, at 10:00 a.m., on Sunday, March 4. This service will be followed by the Family Fiesta.

Family Fiesta Lunch - Sunday, March 04, 2012

Wear your sombreros! Shake your maracas! And join us for a Family Fiesta on Sunday, March 4! On that day (remember, Sundays in Lent are feast days), we will join together for one worship service at 10:00 a.m. and follow it with a lunch of fiesta foods.

As an added feature to our Fiesta, we ask you to provide a baby or toddler photo of yourself. Please do not identify the photo; the rest of us will have to guess who you are. Just put the photo in an envelope and slip it into the container provided in the narthex for that purpose, or send the photo to the church. Please make sure we have your baby or toddler photo by Sunday, February 26. Once again: we will join together for one service only at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 4, followed by a Family Fiesta!

On the first Tuesday of the month, AS-SC parishioners gather at Carpenter’s Shelter at 930 North Henry Street in Alexandria to prepare and serve a meal to the 50-75 men, women and children living there.
