Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in the Sharon Chapel Atrium
Sharon Chapel uses Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in the children’s Christian education program. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd embraces Montessori methods of education in a religious setting. Children from toddlers to age twelve go up to our Atrium, a space set aside for the children learn and experience God. Trained catechists help facilitate each child’s learning.
Children are encouraged to come early on Sundays (at the same time as the first Adult Forum). The children will work in the Atrium through the beginning of the main church service then at the passing of the peace all the children will come down to take part in the Eucharist with their families.
On the last Sunday of each month, the Atrium is closed to allow our catechists an opportunity to worship. The main service is adjusted to ensure the music, prayers, and sermon are more accessible to children.
