Training for Level I CGS Catechists

This Program is Paused for 2018-2019

Training for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I catechists (leaders) is held at All Saints Sharon Chapel in partnership with the Center for Children and Theology.

Upon completion of the course participants will be certified to work in and atrium of 3 to 6 year old children.

Course Objectives

  • To explore the developmental characteristics, needs, capacities and the religious potential of the 3-6 year old child

  • To meditate on the biblical and liturgical themes presented in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

  • To offer guideliines and assistance in setting up the atrium environment, materials making and the catechist's album of presentations

  • To further the catechist's ability to observe and learn from children and to support parents and the community of faith in nuturing the spiritual lives of children.  

Course Fee
  • $700 - Individual

    • $500 for each additional participant from the same organization/institution

  • $350 - All Saints Sharon Chapel Parishioner/Parent 


The course fee includes certificate from the National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Tuition Agreement


Tuition may be paid online or by check.  Payments may be made in full or in two installments.  50% tuition is required to secure your spot in the course.  Withdrawals from the course will be refunded, minus a $50 adminstration fee, up to two week before the course begins.

2017- 2018 Course Dates


Courses meet for 10 sessions, once per month on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., from September 2017 to June 2018.  Missed classes may be may up the following year as needed for the certification.  This course is offered annually.  


Two additional required workshop/practicum dates TBD.  Late admissions at the discretion of formation leader.

Absences/Missed Classes


Makeup for a maximum of two missed classes may be taken made up the following year by arrangement with formation leader.
