Adult Formation & Fellowship
Groups & Offerings for Adults
Christian Formation is life-long and life-wide with All Saints Sharon Chapel. From Bible study and discussion groups to guest lecturers and book groups, you are invited to explore faith, question everything, engage the issues of our day, and learn together. Click on the name of the group to learn about each one.
Sunday morning Bible study is a chance to read, mark, and inwardly digest the Scriptures through energetic conversation and shared insight. Using a variety of styles and covering, at times, both the assigned lectionary readings for that Sunday as well as specific books of the bible or other topics throughout the year, Sunday morning Bible Study is an intergenerational and diverse group of people who believe God’s word is still alive and active in our lives.
So, come, grab a cup of coffee (there’s always coffee!) and a snack, as we dive together into the unfolding mystery of Holy Scripture. (Bible Study is at the same time as the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd children’s program; so, drop the kids and come on by.) *Dates TBA: We are working toward reviving this practice in the 2025-26 program year.
Offered most weeks throughout the year, Forums bring the gifts and insights and experiences of our diverse parishioners into the spotlight. Perhaps you’ll hear a first-hand account of growing up Christian in India, or lessons we can learn from the Anglican Church in Ghana. Perhaps you’ll be asked to share your feedback with the Vestry in a town-hall style forum or to discuss and explore Youth Ministry. Perhaps you’ll engage together in deep reflection on privilege, power, and race in our Church and in our community or perhaps you’ll tour our Civil War era grave yard as you listen to the history of Sharon Chapel. Perhaps you’ll hear about Stewardship, Music, the Organ, Outreach Opportunities, Social Justice Ministries, or, perhaps, you’ll share some of your ministry experience of God in your life. Forums are offered regularly throughout the year, both between services and after our later service. Please check the calendar for the most recent schedule.
Typically offered on Sundays at 9:00am.
All Saints Sharon Chapel Women of Faith meets on the third Sunday of each month following the 10:30 service during Coffee Hour. This is a time for fellowship, discussion, study and sharing our spiritual journey. Please let us know if you would like to lead a discussion on a specific topic. All women of the parish are welcome. Please call the office at (703) 960-4808 for more information.
In preparation for Easter, All Saints Sharon Chapel and three other Episcopal Churches from around this area previously gathered together to offer a Wednesday night "Lenten Series." Often featuring special guest lecturers from Virginia Theological Seminary or other unique leaders in their field, the Lenten Series provided an opportunity to learn and fellowship with other Episcopalians from Alexandria.
Scheduled over four Wednesday nights in the season of Lent and hosted one night at each of the four different churches, the evenings began with a simple supper, continued with a speaker, and concluded wiht a brief prayer service (Compline, etc.).
*TBA in Lent 2026: We are currently working toward reviving this series for 2026.
