Summer 2026 at Sharon Chapel
Montessori-Based Faith Formation & Spiritual Parenting
Join us for a unique Montessori atrium based opportunity for summer children's programming at All Saints. In lieu of a traditional VBS program, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium is a Montessori based faith formation program with a hands-on array of activities offered at All Saints Sharon Chapel. All are welcome. Please consider sharing with your friends and family.
Our Approach
In lieu of a traditional Vacation Bible School model, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at All Saints offers week-long half-day summer sessions for toddlers (24 to 36 months), pre-school age children (3 to 6 years) and lower elementary age children in grades 1-3 (6-9 years).

The themes covered expand upon and incorporate presentations from the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd curriculum offered on Sunday mornings and in our weekday parent-toddler and after-school programs. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori approach to children's formation, which is developmentally appropriate, child focused and holistic. The atrium at All Saints is ecumenical and welcomes children from all faith backgrounds.
For Toddlers (18 Months–3 Years) and their Parents

Time: 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM

Format: Parent/Child Class. Explore spiritual parenting in a prepared Montessori environment.

Sibling Policy: Lap babies and infants are welcome at no additional charge.

Cost: $249 (includes materials and daily snack).

Our Montessori Atrium programs are made possible by the dedicated hands and hearts of our community. We are looking for both adult leaders and youth helpers to make this summer a success for our children.
Adult Volunteer Staff
​Adult volunteers needed to staff both programs. All volunteers must complete Diocese safechurch children training certification. Available online. ​
Junior Camp Counselors
Rising 6th graders--youth grades 7 and up may apply to be junior camp counselors. A stipend will be provided.

Summer Camp Director
Davette Himes is the Director of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and the CGS outreach program at All Saints Episcopal Church - Sharon Chapel in Alexandria, VA. She is certified in all three levels of this work for children ages 3 to 12 years. She has spoken at regional and diocesan meetings about the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd with a particular focus on evangelization and outreach.
